About the role:

As an Engineering Manager, you manage 1-2 teams, demonstrating strong domain ownership over product features, frameworks, and timely delivery. Leveraging expert knowledge in the Auth/Identity field, you guide teams through undefined issues, shape tactical change management, and ensure the 24⁄7 health of services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Safely deliver modern identity features by enforcing a “secure-by-default” culture with strict testing and progressive rollouts.

  • Act as a proactive systems-planner, bridging high-level vision and tactical alignment by negotiating complex downstream dependencies (network, database, devices) far ahead of development cycles.

  • Steer the architectural roadmap to transition components into scalable, cloud-native frameworks and drive scalability initiative to handle queue spikes, database at scale, and data-residency requirements.

  • Evolve core directory protocols (LDAP/RADIUS) to handle increasing enterprise traffic spikes by transitioning existing systems into highly scalable, self-healing cloud architectures.

  • Act as a hands-on expert for auth services, directing via raw metrics and maintaining transparent cross-functional communication.

  • Integrate automated AI workflows for routine tasks to free up engineering bandwidth.

  • Champion Spec-Driven Development governance where engineers use robust specs and AI code-assistants (Cursor/Copilot), while retaining strict accountability for test coverage and code quality.

  • Provide clarity by articulating how the team’s work fits into wider departmental goals to ensure crystal clear direction.

We’re looking for:

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years as an Individual Contributor (scaling to Staff Engineer or Tech Lead) and 4+ years in direct Engineering Management.

  • Domain expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM), authentication protocols, and related platform architecture.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound technical judgment to navigate ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and drive decisive courses of action in high-stakes environments.

$103k-$143K

Rating 12 million companies continuously means ingesting internet-scale measurement data, processing it across streaming, microbatch, and batch paths, storing it so it stays queryable and affordable as it grows, and serving analytics fast enough that customers can explore their own risk in real time. The data is not a byproduct of our product. It is the product.

That also raises the stakes on correctness. We publish a number about other companies, they dispute it, and underwriters price against it. A quiet data quality regression here doesn’t produce a stale dashboard, it moves someone’s score. Quality, contracts, and lineage are therefore architecture problems on this platform, not administrative ones.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Chief Architect, alongside a Principal Architect focused on AI and agentic systems and a Principal Front-end Architect, and partnering closely with engineering leadership, Product, and Data Science.

We’re looking for someone who is opinionated about data architecture and persuasive about it: an architect whose designs get adopted because the reasoning is visible, not because they carry a title.

Like the rest of our architecture function, you’ll prototype to prove out decisions rather than implement full solutions, and you’ll set direction through Technical Design Reviews (TDRs), and standards.  You will lead the data domain, and you’ll bring enough general distributed systems judgment to review designs across the wider platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the system design for our data platform end to end, from ingestion through to the serving layer
  • Define the service boundaries and data contracts between producers and consumers, including schema ownership, compatibility rules, and what happens when a producer needs to make a breaking change
  • Design the lakehouse: table format, partitioning strategy, schema evolution, compaction, and metadata growth at scale
  • Architect the analytical serving layer for three workload classes with conflicting demands, isolated so that one never degrades another: low-latency, high-concurrency queries from customers in the product, ad-hoc exploration from internal analytics and Data Science, and bulk delivery to external feeds and partners
  • Set direction on languages and frameworks in the data stack
  • Engineer data quality and observability into the platform rather than bolting them on: validation and quarantine paths, freshness and completeness SLOs, drift detection, and lineage and metadata generated by the pipeline itself instead of maintained by hand
  • Design for correctness and reproducibility in the ratings pipeline, including backfills and historical restatement when scoring logic changes
  • Write the TDRs, design docs, and standards that set data architecture direction across teams, and push that intent into the repos themselves so engineers and coding agents both have it in local context
  • Review TDRs from across engineering, giving teams substantive feedback on architecture and risk, not only on data work
  • Partner with the AI & Front End Architects on the data access patterns, mentor senior and staff engineers on data system design

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software or data engineering experience, including significant time architecting large-scale data platforms
  • Deep expertise in stream and batch processing at scale with Kafka, Flink, and Spark or close equivalents, and clear judgment about which path a given workload belongs in
  • Strong Python and PySpark, solid Java for Flink stream processing, and enough Scala to read and reason about an existing Spark codebase
  • Hands-on experience designing lakehouse storage in production: columnar formats such as Parquet, open table formats such as Iceberg, and the partitioning, compaction, and schema evolution decisions that come with them

  • A track record of building data quality, contracts, and observability as engineered system properties, meaning assertions, schema enforcement, and lineage that live in code
  • Experience owning a large-scale data migration, including preserving history and correctness through a cutover
  • A track record of influence without authority: presenting a technical direction to skeptical engineers and earning genuine buy-in, and giving rigorous design review feedback on systems you didn’t build yourself
  • Strong technical writing and mentorship: TDRs, design docs, and decision records that teams can act on without hand-holding, plus a history of raising the technical bar around you
  • Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor, driving outcomes through prototyping and technical credibility

Preferred Qualifications:

Our Tech Stack

Our platform runs on Node.js and TypeScript, with a React Microfrontend Architecture and PostgreSQL and ClickHouse for storage. We use Kafka for event streaming, and our infrastructure runs on AWS with Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD. We are actively expanding our AI/ML infrastructure.

On the data side, Kafka is the backbone for event flow. Stream processing runs on Flink in Java, while batch and microbatch run on Spark. Some high performance pipeline components are written in C++. ClickHouse serves our analytical workloads.

You do not need to have used every tool here, but you should be comfortable reasoning across a stack of this kind and making principled architectural trade-offs within it.

The estimated total compensation range for this position is $240,000 - $300,000 (base plus bonus). Actual compensation for the position is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to affordability, skills, qualifications and experience, and may vary from the range. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible for annual performance-based incentive compensation awards and equity, among other company benefits.

About the Role:

SecurityScorecard is hiring a Principal Software Architect to lead the system design of our agentic AI capabilities and serve as a technical anchor for engineering teams building the next generation of our platform. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Chief Architect, alongside a Front-end Architect and a Data-focused Architect, and partnering closely with engineering leadership, Product, and Data Science.

We’re looking for someone who can go deep technically and also move a room: an architect whose designs get adopted because they’re well-reasoned and well-communicated, not just handed down.

You will lead the system design for how agentic features are built, integrated, and operated reliably at production scale, working in close partnership with our Data Science team, who bring the model and ML depth. What You’ll Do

  • Own the system design for our agentic capabilities: orchestration, context and state, tool boundaries, and reliability patterns for non-deterministic systems
  • Write the TDRs, design docs, and standards that set architectural direction for agentic work across teams

Like the rest of our architecture function, you’ll prototype to prove out decisions rather than implement full solutions, and you’ll set direction through Technical Design Reviews (TDRs), and standards.  You will lead the data domain, and you’ll bring enough general distributed systems judgment to review designs across the wider platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the system design for our data platform end to end, from ingestion through to the serving layer
  • Define the service boundaries and data contracts between producers and consumers, including schema ownership, compatibility rules, and what happens when a producer needs to make a breaking change
  • Design the lakehouse: table format, partitioning strategy, schema evolution, compaction, and metadata growth at scale
  • Architect the analytical serving layer for three workload classes with conflicting demands, isolated so that one never degrades another: low-latency, high-concurrency queries from customers in the product, ad-hoc exploration from internal analytics and Data Science, and bulk delivery to external feeds and partners
  • Set direction on languages and frameworks in the data stack
  • Engineer data quality and observability into the platform rather than bolting them on: validation and quarantine paths, freshness and completeness SLOs, drift detection, and lineage and metadata generated by the pipeline itself instead of maintained by hand
  • Design for correctness and reproducibility in the ratings pipeline, including backfills and historical restatement when scoring logic changes
  • Write the TDRs, design docs, and standards that set data architecture direction across teams, and push that intent into the repos themselves so engineers and coding agents both have it in local context
  • Review TDRs from across engineering, giving teams substantive feedback on architecture and risk, not only on data work
  • Partner with the AI & Front End Architects on the data access patterns, mentor senior and staff engineers on data system design

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software or data engineering experience, including significant time architecting large-scale data platforms
  • Deep expertise in stream and batch processing at scale with Kafka, Flink, and Spark or close equivalents, and clear judgment about which path a given workload belongs in
  • Strong Python and PySpark, solid Java for Flink stream processing, and enough Scala to read and reason about an existing Spark codebase
  • Hands-on experience designing lakehouse storage in production: columnar formats such as Parquet, open table formats such as Iceberg, and the partitioning, compaction, and schema evolution decisions that come with them
  • Experience architecting OLAP and analytical serving layers (ClickHouse, Druid, Pinot, BigQuery, Snowflake or similar)
  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals as they apply to data: exactly-once versus at-least-once semantics, ordering, backpressure, late and out-of-order data, and pipeline failure modes
  • A track record of building data quality, contracts, and observability as engineered system properties, meaning assertions, schema enforcement, and lineage that live in code
  • Experience owning a large-scale data migration, including preserving history and correctness through a cutover
  • A track record of influence without authority: presenting a technical direction to skeptical engineers and earning genuine buy-in, and giving rigorous design review feedback on systems you didn’t build yourself

Our Tech Stack

Our platform runs on Node.js and TypeScript, with a React Microfrontend Architecture and PostgreSQL and ClickHouse for storage. We use Kafka for event streaming, and our infrastructure runs on AWS with Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and ArgoCD. We are actively expanding our AI/ML infrastructure.

Rewards is one of the most strategically important platforms at Moniepoint, and it is being built into a dedicated charter with its own engineering and product leadership. The platform sits at the centre of our retention strategy across a user base of approximately 23 million people.

Today the platform does one thing: cashback. It works, but it has barely scratched the surface of what rewards can be, and the cashback product itself is not yet built to the depth it deserves. The ambition is to evolve it into a full rewards, retention, engagement and personalisation platform — and to do that across the full 360 degrees of our network. That means rewards for our business customers, rewards for our consumer customers, and rewards for the sales agents who drive our distribution. Very few companies get to design this from close to a blank page at this scale.

The Head of Engineering owns that platform end to end. You will inherit a team of nine engineers, including an Engineering Manager, and build the organisation out from there — the current expectation is a minimum of three product units and upwards of 25 people, though the eventual shape is genuinely yours to define. Your first objective is to get the best possible performance out of the cashback product we already have. From there, you will work with Growth, Sales and Marketing to determine what we build for acquisition and retention, and roll it out across every customer we serve.

This is a consumer-facing product engineering role, and that is the most important thing to understand about it. Rewards is won or lost on experimentation, personalisation, and the quality of the experience in a customer’s hands. We are looking for a leader who has built and shipped direct-to-consumer products at scale, who is fluent in experimentation and A/B testing, and who has real depth in front-end and mobile engineering — not a purely backend platform leader.

Moniepoint runs a Domain CTO model. We view our Heads of Engineering as the CTO of their domain: you own the technical roadmap, the architecture, the delivery, and the organisation beneath you. You will have full autonomy over engineering strategy, architecture, hiring, operating cadence and roadmap trade-offs.

You will report functionally to our Group CTO, with a dual reporting line into the Product leader for Rewards. That second line is a delivery relationship rather than a seniority one — engineering and product are peers here, and you will build the team to full capacity together. Your responsibilities as Head of Engineering, Rewards includes:

  • Owning the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Rewards Platform end to end.
  • Improving the performance, reliability and depth of the existing cashback product as an immediate first priority.
  • Evolving cashback into a broader rewards, retention, engagement and personalisation platform serving business customers, consumer customers and sales agents.
  • Building the engineering organisation from its current base - structuring product units, hiring engineers and Engineering Managers, and leading through those managers as the team scales.

  • Genuine front-end and mobile depth. You have led or personally built consumer-facing mobile and web experiences. A backend-only background, however strong, is not what this role needs.
  • Experimentation and growth engineering. Hands-on experience running A/B tests, feature flagging, and measurement frameworks, and using the results to drive product decisions rather than to justify them.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing managers — leading an engineering organisation through other engineering leaders, not a single team.
  • Hands-on technical leadership. You are still close to the code. We expect a meaningful proportion of hands-on engineering time and technical credibility with the engineers you lead.

The Head of Engineering owns that platform end to end. You will inherit a team of nine engineers, including an Engineering Manager, and build the organisation out from there — the current expectation is a minimum of three product units and upwards of 25 people, though the eventual shape is genuinely yours to define. Your first objective is to get the best possible performance out of the cashback product we already have. From there, you will work with Growth, Sales and Marketing to determine what we build for acquisition and retention, and roll it out across every customer we serve.

This is a consumer-facing product engineering role, and that is the most important thing to understand about it. Rewards is won or lost on experimentation, personalisation, and the quality of the experience in a customer’s hands. We are looking for a leader who has built and shipped direct-to-consumer products at scale, who is fluent in experimentation and A/B testing, and who has real depth in front-end and mobile engineering — not a purely backend platform leader.

Moniepoint runs a Domain CTO model. We view our Heads of Engineering as the CTO of their domain: you own the technical roadmap, the architecture, the delivery, and the organisation beneath you. You will have full autonomy over engineering strategy, architecture, hiring, operating cadence and roadmap trade-offs.

You will report functionally to our Group CTO, with a dual reporting line into the Product leader for Rewards. That second line is a delivery relationship rather than a seniority one — engineering and product are peers here, and you will build the team to full capacity together. Your responsibilities as Head of Engineering, Rewards includes:

  • Owning the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Rewards Platform end to end.
  • Improving the performance, reliability and depth of the existing cashback product as an immediate first priority.
  • Evolving cashback into a broader rewards, retention, engagement and personalisation platform serving business customers, consumer customers and sales agents.
  • Building the engineering organisation from its current base - structuring product units, hiring engineers and Engineering Managers, and leading through those managers as the team scales.
  • Establishing a strong experimentation culture: A/B testing, cohort analysis, and measurement that lets the team learn quickly what actually changes customer behaviour.
  • Working closely with Growth, Sales and Marketing to translate acquisition and retention objectives into product and engineering initiatives.
  • Owning the customer-facing experience of rewards across mobile and web, including how quickly and reliably customers receive what they have earned.
  • Define architecture standards, engineering processes and quality metrics, and own the engineering health of the domain — incidents, production defects, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and developer experience.
  • Build the platform to serve customers across multiple geographies as Moniepoint expands.
  • Partner with Product to define the rewards-specific metrics and OKRs that do not yet exist, and hold the team to them.

Who You Are

  • Direct-to-consumer product engineering at scale. You have built and shipped products used directly by large consumer audiences, and you understand what moves engagement and retention. This is the defining requirement of the role.
  • Genuine front-end and mobile depth. You have led or personally built consumer-facing mobile and web experiences. A backend-only background, however strong, is not what this role needs.
  • Experimentation and growth engineering. Hands-on experience running A/B tests, feature flagging, and measurement frameworks, and using the results to drive product decisions rather than to justify them.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing managers — leading an engineering organisation through other engineering leaders, not a single team.
  • Hands-on technical leadership. You are still close to the code. We expect a meaningful proportion of hands-on engineering time and technical credibility with the engineers you lead.
  • 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading engineering teams through growth phases.
  • Comfort with our backend environment — Java and Spring Boot — and the ability to lead backend engineers credibly, even if it is not where your own depth sits.
  • Experience building and scaling an engineering organisation from a small base, including hiring and developing Engineering Managers.
  • Strong collaboration with commercial stakeholders — growth, marketing and sales — and the ability to translate business objectives into engineering work.
  • Rewards, loyalty, gamification, personalisation or growth platform experience is a strong advantage but is not required.
  • Fintech or payments experience is an advantage, not a requirement.

About The Role

Rewards is one of the most strategically important platforms at Moniepoint, and it is being built into a dedicated charter with its own engineering and product leadership. The platform sits at the centre of our retention strategy across a user base of approximately 23 million people.

Today the platform does one thing: cashback. It works, but it has barely scratched the surface of what rewards can be, and the cashback product itself is not yet built to the depth it deserves. The ambition is to evolve it into a full rewards, retention, engagement and personalisation platform — and to do that across the full 360 degrees of our network.
